Zahor is a Jewish commemoration app dedicated to remembering loved ones who have passed away. We understand the sensitive and sacred nature of the information you entrust to us. Protecting your personal data is our highest priority.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following data:

• Account information: email address (for authentication)
• Memorials: names, civil and Hebrew dates, family relationships, photos
• Memories: texts and photos shared in memory of your loved ones
• Family circles: group membership and roles
• Preferences: tradition (Ashkenazi/Sephardic), language, notifications
• Photos: selected from your photo library to illustrate a memorial or a memory
• Notification token: to send yahrzeit reminders

3. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to:

• Display and manage your memorials and memories
• Calculate yahrzeit dates and remind you of them
• Send you reminder notifications (in advance, on the day, evening preparation)
• Enable sharing within your family circles
• Improve the app (anonymized analytics)

4. Storage and security

• Data is stored on Supabase (secure cloud infrastructure, PostgreSQL)
• Photos are stored in Supabase Storage, with access restricted per user
• Access to data is protected by security rules (Row Level Security)
• Communications are encrypted over HTTPS/TLS
• An offline mode lets you use the app without a connection (data stored locally)

5. Data sharing

We never sell your data. Your data is not shared with any third party for commercial purposes.

Third-party services we use:

• Supabase: hosting and authentication
• Sentry: technical error tracking (no personal data transmitted)
• PostHog: anonymized usage analytics
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): sending push notifications

6. Device permissions

• Photo library: to select photos for memorials and memories
• Notifications: for yahrzeit reminders
• Location (optional): to calculate the time of sunset

7. Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings. Deleting your account permanently deletes all of your personal data, memorials, memories and photos.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

• Access: view your personal data
• Rectification: correct your information
• Erasure: delete your account and all of your data
• Portability: export your data
• Objection: object to the processing of your data

9. Minors

Zahor is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

10. Changes

This policy may be updated. If there is a significant change, you will be notified through the app. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
