1. Purpose
These terms govern the use of the Zahor (זכור) app, a Jewish commemoration service for creating memorials, calculating and receiving yahrzeit reminders, and sharing the memory of loved ones who have passed away within family circles. By using Zahor, you accept these terms.
2. The service
In particular, Zahor lets you:
- Record memorials (names, civil and Hebrew dates, family relationships, photos)
- Follow a calendar of azkarot (yahrzeits), with the Hebrew dates calculated automatically
- Receive reminder notifications before each azkara
- Access memorial prayers and texts (Kaddish, Tehillim according to your tradition)
- Bring your family together in shared circles, where everyone finds the same dates and memories
The service is provided free of charge. We may change its features to improve it.
3. Account
- Creating an account requires a valid email address, and you agree to provide accurate information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for the activity carried out from your account.
- Zahor is not intended for children under the age of 13.
4. Your content
You retain full ownership of the content you add (memorials, memories, photos, texts). By posting it in the app, you grant us only the technical right to host it and display it to you and to the members of your circles, for the sole purpose of providing the service.
You agree not to post content:
- that infringes the rights of a third party (privacy, image rights, intellectual property)
- that is unlawful, hateful, defamatory or contrary to human dignity
- to which you do not hold the rights, in particular photos of people without appropriate permission
5. Family circles
Circles let you share memorials and memories with the members you invite. By inviting someone or joining a circle, you accept that the circle's content is visible to its members. Respect the sensitivities of other members and share only content appropriate to the memory of those who have passed away.
6. Availability of the service
We strive to keep Zahor available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee that it will run without interruption. An offline mode lets you view your data without a connection. We cannot be held liable for temporary unavailability, for data loss beyond our control, or for the accuracy of date calculations, which are provided for guidance only.
7. Liability
Zahor is a tool to help you remember. Reminders and date calculations are provided to support you and do not replace consulting a rabbinic authority when in doubt. The service is provided “as is”; to the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to providing the service.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings. Deletion permanently erases your personal data, memorials, memories and photos, in accordance with our privacy policy.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. If there is a significant change, you will be notified through the app. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties will first seek an amicable solution before taking any legal action.
